I’m currently under a private GP who prescribes either ERFA or Armour NDT. I’m on 1.5 ERFA tablets per day (30mg) and 50mcg levothyroxine.
I’m finding this way too expensive to be sustainable when you factor in the cost of the private medichecks blood tests, private report and prescription costs and then nearly £200 worth of medication. This is for 3 months of medication, so works out as about £100 per month all together.
What options do I have to keep costs down?
Thanks!!

The testing requirement is pants, but if I'm correct you can send in a Monitor my health instead which is £29 which I have instead of Medichecks without issues
You usually don't need two in-depth reports but even the other one can be pricey.
Strictly in terms of the price the meds do not turn out much more expensive than self-sourcing even with prescription costs.
But the testing etc could be understandably tedious.
So your alternative is to self-source, and do your own testing as required.
But you should bear in mind that self sourcing can sometimes be quite variable in terms of supply and price fluctuations. That's the only thing.
If you now feel confident with what you're doing, and reasonably sure you're going in the right direction with your health you can take the second option. There's also lots of advice and help here.
Hi I use Thyroid s NDT which I buy online and have been well on it for over 6 years now.I have no thyroid and it works well for me. The cost is around £165 for 500 x 60 mcg tablets.
These take around two weeks to arrive. I take 2.25 pills per day so quite reasonable in price.
