I am wondering why my TSH has risen by 2 pts since last bloods on Feb 2022 and if anyone could explain. I follow all protocols for taking bloods eg in morning , stopping supplements, splitting t3 etc
Further to my last post . My latest results:
TSH 3.10 mu/ l 0.5-5.5
Ft4 16.1 pmol/l 11.0-22.0
Ft3 5.0 Pmol/l 3.1-6.4
I started T3 20mcg & reduced Levo from 150 to 100mcg last December.
My BSL rose considerably so I reduced my T3 dose to 15mcg split x 3 daily , 8 weeks ago . I am a type 2 diabetic controlled by tablets.
My current BSLs are still too high so I have reduced my T3 to 10mcg this week.
I was thinking I would increase my Levo to 125mcg in 2 weeks . I am trying to find my sweet spot for my Hashimoto’s but raised BSLs present lots of other issues. I will be discussing with my Endo in 2 weeks but was wondering if others had had this dilemma & how did you manage it?
Ps my cholesterol results are awful as always but I can’t tolerate statins.
Many thanks for reading

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin D, folate ferritin and B12 last tested
Thanks SlowDragon. Yes I thought T3 reduction would increase TSH but as only 5mcg didn’t expect such a rise .When on Levo 150mcg it was under 2 . I take Igennus B complex x1, magnesium, fish oil , vit D , k2 and spread over day as suggested here. Diet and exercise good.Only change is adding T3. Folate etc in upper ranges . I have pernicious anaemia too so inject B12 and have iron infusions if ferritin below 100.
All of this has made a huge difference to my overall well being. I was doing Ok for me but living with so many chronic conditions I was wondering if my normal could be improved upon.
T3 sounded like it was worth a try and my ft3 has improved just didn’t expect it to throw my BSLs out. I will ask my Endo about Ndt.
drugs.com/cdi/liothyronine-...If you have high blood sugar (diabetes), this medicine (liothyronine tablets) may sometimes raise blood sugar. Talk with your doctor about how to keep your blood sugar under control.

Statins are all hype and no substance, so don't worry about it. They don't help women at all, and don't do anything for men until after they've had a heart attack, when it's believed that they may actually be helping by mildly reducing inflammation, not by reducing cholesterol.
The single thing I worry about with regards to cholesterol and fat in the blood is what level my triglycerides are. The lower the better for that one - and to reduce it and keep it low people need to keep grains and sugar low.

You should read this link, and pay particular attention to the graphs...
A thread from a diabetes forum that contains links to many articles and research papers on the subject of cholesterol and statins, few, if any, that actually are approving of them :
The NNT website in the links above uses a traffic light system to indicate any possible benefits. The first three links are all red, indicating no benefit. Only the fourth one is given a green banner suggesting there is some benefit to taking statins in the circumstances given.
Thank you 🙏 Humanbean for all the info. I will work my way through it. I mentioned it because I know that it can be a sign I am under medicated for Hashimoto’s. I was wondering how under medicated one would have to be to have high cholesterol levels. In part it is why I wanted to try T3 as I was hoping they would come down as I think I am a poor converter . However they haven’t . My results are all in red and notes predict doom . I know my Endo won’t be happy but statins make me depressed and brain fogged so not going there. Thanks again

I'm afraid I can't help with that.
I think genetic factors as well as thyroid disease might come into play where cholesterol is concerned. I'm sure it does for me - I have so many relatives on both sides of my family who have died of heart attacks or strokes. My own cholesterol is very high but I've refused statins. I don't consider cholesterol to be an optional extra - it's needed for making some hormones and also for making vitamin D. The brain needs cholesterol as well. If people don't eat enough cholesterol in their diet their liver will make more because it is essential to life.
But these are just my thoughts on my own cholesterol. Everyone needs to decide their own stance on the subject.
Edit : I don't believe that statins extend lives either. But I definitely believe in the side effects : Increased risk of type 2 diabetes, dementia, atherosclerosis, rhabdomyolysis, memory loss and poor memory generally, muscle pain and damage, headaches, nausea, vomiting, kidney damage. And for women of an age to get pregnant, they can cause damage to the fetus.
But again, these are my own thoughts about my own cholesterol, which might not be relevant to anyone else.
Thanks for your thoughts Humanbean. I agree with you one size doesn’t fit all and it is up to individual what they decide to do. Personally I tried different statins several times but felt dreadful. Interestingly my mother & sister independently had same issues so I think there is a good case for genetics in my case. Cheers
