Just in case anyone is planning a trip to Greece to stock up! We've come to Corfu for the long Easter weekend. Specifically chose somewhere in Greece to try and stock up on T3 medication.
I can confirm that it is easily available in Corfu Old Town over the counter at pharmacies. We probably visited at least 10 (they are literally everywhere!) and managed between 1 and 5 boxes in all but two of them (2 said they had no stock).
At the first one, the pharmacist would only sell me 2 boxes, as she said she has a lot of English people come and buy it for body building purposes. Me with my walking stick clearly didn't look like a bodybuilder, and she knew what Hashimoto's was when I said I had it.
Fixed price of 2 euros and 30 cents in every pharmacy. I managed to pick up a years supply. Boxes are dated between December 2023 and August 2024.
Anyway, just thought I'd let anyone know who wondered what the situation is in Greece.

Although further to this, I can't see any limitations on taking medication out of Greece (I can see there is bringing it in), and it isn't classed as a controlled drug for bringing back into the UK.
So I'll still split between bags, but not anticipating any issues.
That is really great news to have a years supply, as the not knowing where our meds are coming from next & what brand/combo they might be, and if they are even coming at all in the post can give us untold stress on top of our illness.
Good one, well worth the trip. I have T3 prescribed here in France it would cost around 5 euros per box, but because I have no thyroid it's free to me.
Just to clarify the above reply, I meant the only places I know where you can buy it over the counter with no prescription. Which let's face it, would be wonderful if we could do anywhere!
i can ask a friend who lives there. if it is available over the counter there. Its spanish law following so if anyone tried in Spain to no luck, the same would apply there.
A few people who do get it prescribed seem (usually) to get a French product (Sanofi Cynomel) as a special import.
I think all Spanish thyroid medicines are in my medicines document - and there are onward links to the Spanish medicines site which allows you to check anything.
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
Yes Spent a fortune on Liothyronine 5mcg from US...However I don't like the 25 or 20mcg as I had to cut it in 4 and 5 parts which is difficult; I wish more places sold the 5mcg and 2,5 mcg T3 variety.... Now I just use NDT ( Erfa) from UK but not Optimal....Thanks for posting above
There are at least two available 5 microgram liothyronine products with UK licences. See my medicines document.

Yes...I know I can get it from my private prescriber for NDT and Customised4u....just hoped one can order directly like people do directly from a Pharmacy like <redacted company name>...Many thank x
Two years ago I was told that no t3 was available in Spain and it was definitely not available in Portugal. I buy mine - Tiromel - on-line in boxes of 100 x 25mcg for around £11, including postage.
Be careful with Grossman. They sent me an entire 6 bottle order of placebo/duds. My free t3 tanked, and TSH shot up to prove it to my doctor, and my symptoms came back something horrible!
