Does anyone here struggle with acne and random bruises when their thyroid is under active
Acne and random bruising : Does anyone here... - Thyroid UK
Acne and random bruising
Acne can be connected to B vitamins especially B12
When were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels last tested
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were thyroid levels last tested
What dose levothyroxine are you currently taking
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
Are you currently taking T3
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
On T3 or NDT - day before test split daily dose into 3 smaller doses, spread through the day at approx 8 hour intervals, taking last 1/3rd of daily dose 8-12 hours before test
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

I believe all vitamins are update to date. My thyroid was tested 8 weeks ago and I’m slowly building my dose up. I’m still working my way up. Currently on 75mg of Levo. Same brand
75mcg is only one step up from starter dose
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking
Do you always get same brand
Many people find different brands are not interchangeable
Anxiety is common hypothyroid symptom and should improve as dose levothyroxine is fine tuned
Important to regularly retest vitamin levels
Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Yes. I was diagnosed at the age of 55 and had terrible acne at that time, which was most embarrassing! Saw the dermatologist several times, and took antibiotics and all sorts of things which had no effect, and she couldn't understand it. Once I started levo, it slowly went away.
And, I always had mysterious bruises that appeared for no apparent reason. Haven't had that since starting levo, either.
