Hi all

My Dad (71) is having an MOT next week and having full bloods done including Thyroid.

He is having his MOT at 10am and I wondered if he needs to fast before his test?

He doesn’t take any medications.

Thanks

Lindsay

If underactive thyroid is suspected then it's best to get the highest possible TSH. This is achieved by a blood draw no later than 9am and nothing to eat or drink except water beforehand.

He originally contacted them as we think he may have Asthma and the GP has booked this MOT. He is also having an ECG. He couldn’t get an appointment any earlier, very annoying. I’ll tell him to only drink water till after his bloods.
