Hoping for some help,

I’ve been diagnosed with under active thyroid for nearly 3 years, started on 75mg levo eventually 125mg ( when symptoms really bad I increased to 150mg, 1st endo was no support kept insisting Symptoms are menopausal, now have different endo he appears total opposite and has put me on Liothyrine 10mg daily as well as Levo as said to reduce Levo to 100mg my bloods came back over this time, I don’t understand as my symptoms are just as worse hands & feet ice cold, hair loss, weight gain, Unbearable moods, constipation, joints hurt so much I feel at the end of my tether, last bloods were;

TSH 0.11mu (0.27-4.2)

T4 above 26.7pmo (12.0-22.0)

Serum free triiodothyronine level 6.4 pmo (3.1-6.8)

Just feel alone & totally fed up with it all.

Any advice greatly appreciated 🤔

Post from a year ago showed very low ferritin and low folate levels

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Folate level 3.4ugl (3.0-20.0)

Ferritin 29ugl(10.0-307.0)

You never answered about B12 result

Ferritin was deficient - did GP endocrinologist prescribe iron supplements? Or folate supplement

Optimal vitamin levels are ESSENTIAL on levothyroxine and especially on T3

Essential to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested for autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease

TSH 0.11mu (0.27-4.2)

T4 above 26.7pmo (12.0-22.0)

Serum free triiodothyronine level 6.4 pmo (3.1-6.8)

all thyroid blood tests should be done early morning, ideally before 9am last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

On T3 - day before test split daily dose T3 into 3 smaller doses, spread through the day at approx 8 hour intervals, taking last 1/3rd of daily dose 8-12 hours before test

Is this how you did your test?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests all relevant vitamins or thyroid antibodies

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

If yes….which one

Assuming you have autoimmune thyroid disease

Are you on dairy free or gluten free diet

It could be that you need less levo and more lio. It can take years of slowly adjusting doses to find a combo that suits The endos can't judge this. It is trial and error.

Thanks for that, I don't mean to sound meannor impatient but it's always lots of waiting where thyroid is concerned, I wish I could just feel as if I'm functioning properly, this is a living nightmare.

Thank you for your help 🙏

How did you do? its 2yrs ago but to me you were over medicated and likely your body was responding by blocking - poss with rt3 to stop further damage. hence the hypo symptoms.
