I am currently taking 125mg of Levothyroxine and I have gained a lot of weight and would like to try Armour. I realise this must be prescribed but I am concerned about the cost. Can anyone tell me approx. How much per month it is likely to cost me?

Armour price help
Madvicky,
I self source Armour and am paying about £1.30 for 1 grain + custom charges which can be quite hefty depending on the amount you are bringing in.
I am thinking of getting a private prescription next next time also, because the costs seemed to have evened out (ie self-sourced NDT prices have risen) when you factor in the cost of the private consultations.
I found Armour T3 potent so only take 1 grain + 50mcg Levo. I am assuming you are wanting Armour for the small amount of T3 so depending on your conversion abilities you may find this combo was to suit you also. The other alternative is to just add some T3 but that's difficult to get prescribed in UK or isn't in such abundant supplies from abroad now.
The following is a link that states the cost. I assume you will have to get a prescription but your GP may give you a private one.

Unexplained weight gain is a common query but it is due to having hypothyroidism and it is quite common for some people if prescribed levothyroxine alone.
The cost of Armour is different from every pharmacy you have to shop around. I have been quoted anything from £120- £267 for 100 x 1 grain. Direct from California cost me £139. I am now with a private doc in Dublin.

I'glad you've found a supplier. That sentence sounds like we're getting unlawful drugs, when we are actually getting thyroid hormones that run our whole body, from head to toe and keeps us symptom-free.
