Is It Normal or Odd to Not Feel Your Heartbeat After TT and/or on Levo?

In your respected opinions would you say it normal or abnormal to not feel your heartbeat after total Thyroidectomy and/or on Levo?

I'm a year post surgical. My endo is otherwise great about increasing levo or switching brands as we try to get me my levels stable but shrugs off my question "why can't I feel my heartbeat". Its' weird to feel your heart beat for 4 decades, strong, then nothing ever again after surgery. Even when exerting myself. I held my baby nephew this morning. I could fell his heartbeat strongly though my own chest "Heart to heart" as I burped him after giving him his bottle. It made the loss of my feeling my own heartbeat more pronounced. Why can't I feel my own heartbeat anymore? Has anyone experienced something similar? I have been sent to a cardiologist for an EKG. The test came back "normal"

I am not medically qualified but I think it would be that all healthy adults don't feel their heartbeat unless they've being doing something energetic like running/swimming /angry etc.

I used to be well aware of my heartbeat when on levothyroxine but on liothyronine (T3) I don't feel heartbeat and my heart is calm.

Levothyroxine gave me intense palpitations and the cardiologist was contemplating putting an implant in heart 'to see what was going on'. Just then T3 was added to T4 and my severe palpitations resolved and I didn't consult with the cardiologist again. Quite a number of years ago now.

Hi Audley, I don't really have anything useful to add, but I found your post very interesting. As a teenager - long before a thyroid diagnosis - I could never find my own pulse. I can remember doing some first aid training in the Guides and couldn't count heartbeats. Now, on replacement hormones, it's very easy. Certainly something to contemplate. Thanks for posting.

I am rarely aware of my heartbeat. Sometimes, if I am still and think about it, I think I can detect it. And, as others have said, if I have been active.

As a child, I remember lying in bed and being very aware of my heartbeat - no idea when that disappeared.
