Thybon Henning V Tiromel

I am considering switching to Tiromel from Thybon Henning. I currently take 25mcg Liothyronin. Tiromel are 25mcg tablets whereas Thybon Henning are 20mcg meaning I have to cut into another tablet. It would be more convenient to have the Tiromel and also cheaper. Has anyone had any problems switching?

I don't understand that. If you were wanting to get 20mcg from a Tiromel tablet you wouldn't cut into another tablet, you'd take a bit off the 25mcg tablet. However, some people say that Tiromel is weaker than other brands (I don't know, I've never used Tiromel nor Thybon Henning) so it's probably best to do a straight swap and see how you get on. You might find that a 25mcg Tiromel tablet gives the same effect as a 20mcg Thybon tablet.

I have Thybon now. It is a 20mcg tablet and I need 25mcg so I have to cut a tablet into quarters to get the extra 5mcg. The Tiromel - if comparable - at 25mcg per tablet would have my daily needs in one tablet to save me cutting into another. If its potentially weaker then it wouldn't work. though. :(

Ah, I misunderstood. I didn't realise that you wanted to take 25mcg Thybon, sorry.

Some people find Tiromel the best T3 they've ever tried. All you can do is try it and see how it goes for you. If you find it weak then you could cut a Tiromel tablet into quarters and that may be nearer in it's effect to 25mcg Thybon if you find Tiromel weaker.

You can’t get Tiromel on prescription

Generally people seem to find Tiromel is weaker than Thybon Henning

Supply less secure if not on prescription

Thybon Henning is lactose free, Tiromel isn’t

I find Thybon Henning better than Tiromel. You could try 20 mcg TH, not because it is 'stronger' but because it may work better for you. You can then adjust your dose as necessary.

I have just switched from Tiromel to TH and TH is definitely stronger. I'm yet to tweek the dosage..

My Tiromel was carried from a pharmacy in Turkey. I found it was less potent as it got older. Possibly the Tiromel you had wasn't stored so well and aged a bit. Either way it doesn't matter, just a question of getting the right dose.
