Morning all

I apologise for labouring a point but I haven't had the flu vaccination to-date as I'm still hesitant regarding side effects with Hashimotos if any. I have booked the vaccination for Thursday leaving me two days to decide. Would really appreciate any input from you. Many thanks. 🎄

Having the flu vaccination or not is really only something that you can decide, other people's opinions will vary and should not influence you.

If you really want to know what other people thing then check out "Related Posts" to the right of your opening post (on a PC, you may have to scroll down on another device).

Some things to consider...

Have you ever had flu?

If yes, could you face going through it again?

If no, are you well enough to cope with developing it, and can you (or your family) look after you if you became terribly ill?

I have Hashimotos and a very poor converter of T4 to active T3 confirmed by blood tests and DIO2 gene test. I had my influenza vaccination a couple of months ago. I had no side effects whatsoever. I also have had my covid booster a few weeks ago. No problem except a sore arm for a few days.

I would strongly recommend a flu jab. I’ve only had flu once in my life. It’s something you don’t forget as it can be very debilitating. I know of two people who died from flu in their 30’s and left children behind.

Please I’d urge you to get your vaccination. A vaccination side effect is always better than the actual disease, especially during a pandemic.

I have several autoimmune conditions and have had the flu vaccine for about ten years. It’s not a ‘live’ vaccine so for less likely to cause any problems. Also had Covid 1st & 2nd dose plus booster. Slightly sore arm and a bit off par for 48hrs. Way better than Covid and I had flu many years ago, never want that again. However it’s your choice.

I have replied to you on the thread you asked me a question on, on this one I would tell you to get the flu jab. With the added worry of the pandemic these days it would be wise not to take chances with anything. Just go and get it. x

I generally feel a little rough for a couple of days after a vaccine, but it’s nothing compared to actually having the ‘flu. As humanbean said flu is debilitating at best, but can be fatal, especially when one has other health issues.
