Do any of you suffer from cold and numb feeling feet
Cold feet: Do any of you suffer from cold and... - Thyroid UK
Cold feet
Hi
Yes I have very cold hands and feet especially in winter. I wear bed socks at night. My body might be warm but my extremities rarely are.
Me too
When I was under medicated I did, but not any more 🙂
Yes, cold hands and feet. The soles of my feet and my finger tips are also becoming increasingly painful.
Always have, even as a child, and always had chilblains. Ages ago a GP said casually "oh, thats Raynaud's, nothing to worry about"! Fingers go dead white and hurt like fury when the circulation comes back. Gloves dont help much as I work outside and they get wet.
I stuff my hand between the back legs of a cow to warm up - they dont seem to mind!
Now I have Peripheral neuropathy due to not being diagnosed with a thyroid problem for a long time, so I dont feel my feet much any more, and I wear wellies all the time.
Pure wool socks are much much warmer than any other. They dont last long though and I sometimes wonder if I am the only person who darns socks!
Ah .. the never ending search for the perfect working glove.. it's a lifelong quest. When i was a kid, and gloves/mittens were something your grannie knitted , before waterproof/breathable fabric was 'a thing'.. my mum used to try and improve on my rubbish record of " how long i would go out and play in the snow for before coming in crying about my hurty fingers" by putting a pair of marigolds over my woolly gloves.. (being townie's we didn't have the cows backside as an option, but i can see it would work well )
I now work in posh ladies soft leather gloves with the thin knitted linings, scavenged for a £ or so from constantly perusing charity shops... they work quite well, you can feel what you're doing and i abuse them terribly ,but i keep the leather well fed, and then just chuck em out when they get too knackered. (my grannie would be appalled)
And no .. you're not the only one still darning woolly socks ... my current (very expensive) winter favourites have been with me since 1996...
I had cold feet for as long as I could remember. I got rid of them to a certain extent by supplementing my iron and ferritin to get them as close to optimal as possible.
For about 9 months of the year I also wear socks all the time, even in bed. I enjoy the luxury of not needing them in summer.
Low Vitamin B12 and low folate can cause problems with the
extremities feeling cold and numb.
I do take B12 and folate occasionally. Also take B complex.
