results from dr today , from results doesn't believe I am borderline under active thyroid , can't explain my ongoing fatigue , apathy . Suggested talking therapy , however I know i am not suffering with depression. I feel a switch has been flicked off mentally and physically symptoms worsening over decades . Hope it makes so sense to you.
Thank you , I think I will go for the scan first , as cost is not much more than the private blood tests and also to clear up if any chance of damage to thyroid.
Hi SlowDragon, Just to let you know , I went for thyroid scan, result = ''geneal appearance of thyroid is suggestive of the possibility of mild thyroiditis. Few reactive cervical lymph nodes are identified.'' he said quite common amongst patients,my thyroid is inflamed indicating it is struggling to reach a balanced level. He suggested full panel of blood tests from his dr colleague . Spoke with Dr he read through my previous blood tests [5yrs] said no to further blood tests as will show the same results ,he said mild underactive thyroid is a symptom , I mentioned adrenals struggling , he said may be the case , struggling adrenals can show up as gastric problems , athritis , thyroid etc . Suggested losing some weight, no stress and excercise more .........
Really glad I had scan it has put my mind at ease ,and given clarity of no major damage / issue with thyroid .Bloods alone would have had me going around in circles for even longer .
I am going back to trying to help my adrenals which seem to be the impact on my thyroid [ previous years Dr Peatfield and another private dr suggested adrenal sups and cortisol cream to support adrenals ,from memory didn't help.] I will research further ,as I need to stop this getting any worse.
In some countries you would be diagnosed hypothyroid when your TSH goes over 3. Your FT4 is so close to the bottom of the range there really is no question; however, your GP's hands are tied with those results.
VIT D 73 nmo/L REF 50.00-174.00 [ JULY 202I =vit D =102 ] does fluctuate each test...
How much are you supplementing?
We will all have lower Vit D levels in the winter because we can't make it naturally during the winter months. When supplementing we may need to take more in the winter than in the summer.
The Vit D Society and Grassroots Health recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L, with a recent blog post on Grassroots Health mentioning a study which recommends over 125nmol/L.
