T3 for Cushings disease?
ging,
Yes, but pit falls to watch would be unmanaged raised blood sugars caused by high cortisol because T3 can also raise blood sugars further. Also, if you were to be medicating T4 in addition this stands to be converted to excessive RT3 if cortisol levels weren’t tightly controlled.
And another also, T3 can be difficult to introduce with high cortisol or low iron inducing the same anxiety/stress that high cortisol levels may incur, and it could make a difference as to whether the Cushings is tumour or steroid induced.
Many thanks. I have Cushings and my specialist stopped my T3 and reverted to T4 and I couldn't understand why.
ging,
I think endos start & stop T3 on a whim sometimes. Did you ask his reasoning?
I don't have Cushings but can't think of other reasons for not being able to take T3 if you are well managed. When did switch happen? How are you feeling?
Do you have recent TFT's to post including ranges (numbers in brackets) for members to comment.
What is the cause of your Cushing's? Do you have either a pituitary or adrenal tumour or is it steroid induced? I have had Cushing's disease from a pituitary tumour & happy to help if I can.
Canni ask what your symptons were please
