I’m always so reluctant to reply to post about pregnancy! Makes me so nervous I’m going to say the wrong thing 😞 Huge congratulations btw 🥳 For me, I’d not be happy with those FT3 results but what can you realistically do about them? If you can I’d push for more Levo if can

Thank you so much NWA6 for responding. My July 2021 FT4 had gone too high over range, I learnt from the wonderful group here that I would have started converting to RT3, as a safety mechanism, hence the sudden drop in FT3.

Seems like the twins have needed a lot of the T4, hence the drop in ‘% through ref range’ of FT4 from 133.81% to 67.95% within a month.

My thyroid symptoms are really good presently and am just unsure whether and when I may need to up the dosage a little, maybe a 12.5mcg increase but I’m holding off for now and retesting again in 3-4 weeks. I don’t use an Endo and we simply just buy the Levo in any pharmacy here, without a prescription so that part certainly makes life easier than a lot of countries.

On another note, I share your upset and the dismay you voiced; I have to say it truly makes me wonder, why & which oath these medics took. I wish you the very best, for you and your family.

Sami-M,

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Please be very careful with your medication you don’t want too much and likewise you don’t want too little.

I’d also recommend reading up on these articles. According to Dr Izabella Wentz, known as The Thyroid Pharmacist, your TSH should be no more than 2. However, at the same time you don’t want it to be below the normal range.

These two articles by her are about the thyroid and pregnancy and are invaluable:

All the best.

Hi Sami-H. I am only speaking from my daughters experience of being pregnant (baby now 4 months old) but she had to increase her T4 early on in pregnancy as it quickly dropped and she had read it’s important for brain development. However it looks like you are still in range with both your T4 and T3.She found the endocrinologist at a London teaching hospital not really that knowledgeable and sort help from this forum. I’m sure someone more experienced like Slow Dragon will respond to you soon.

Hi Aunds, many thanks for your response. Yes indeed, I’ve had excellent advice from a lot of friends here, including SlowDragon & greygoose , so I’m holding on to the invaluable info everyone shared on my last post. I’m ‘fortunately’ relying totally on all friends in our god sent group here and don’t have an endo. I’m in the United Arab Emirates and I confirm the world of endocrinology and diabetes here knows as little as everywhere else about thyroid management. All the best to you.
