It means that your Vit D level is very low.

In some areas Vit D deficiency is when level is <25, in some areas it is when level is <30.

Your GP may prescribe a Vit D supplement.

Come back and tell us how much D3 he prescribed.

There are important cofactors needed when taking D3 which your GP probably won't know about because they aren't taught much about nutrition. You will need to buy these yourself. I can give you full details when you come back and tell us how much D3 you have been prescribed.

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing
