It means that your Vit D level is very low.
In some areas Vit D deficiency is when level is <25, in some areas it is when level is <30.
Your GP may prescribe a Vit D supplement.
Come back and tell us how much D3 he prescribed.
There are important cofactors needed when taking D3 which your GP probably won't know about because they aren't taught much about nutrition. You will need to buy these yourself. I can give you full details when you come back and tell us how much D3 you have been prescribed.
Low vitamin DGP should prescribe at least 1600iu everyday for 6 months

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.
Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol
