Does t3 help brain fog??

Not necessarily. Being optimally medicated, however that might be achieved, is what alleviates symptoms, including brain fog.

Thank you :)

A lot, especially if you have a low TSH but normal fT3, fT4.

Thank you! I’m starting mine soon and looking for hope! How would you describe your brain fog? If you ever had any

Poor memory and an inability to concentrate. When reading something I would lose focus after about 20 minutes. I also noticed that I would wake up frequently and not have vivid dreams leading to tiredness the next day.

I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully it’s better now!

Yes, resolved with 30 mcg liothyronine daily.

Yes it’s helped with my brain fog 100%, I’m now able to take a uni course as well as work. I take 100mcg Levo and 7.5 lio - sounds such a small amount but it’s made such a difference.

I’m so so happy to hear that ☺️ Thank you for sharing! Did it help any other symptoms?

I got a blood test that confirmed my conversion from T4 to T3 was poor. It was a shaky start, at first. But my headaches disappeared and I felt so much warmer in the mornings. It takes a bit of getting used to and not for everyone.

What blood test was that? My endo said that there isn’t one to see how you convert apparently. I’m so glad it helped you!

He's right , there isn't 'a blood test' for this, but it is done by looking at fT4 and fT3 and TSH together, (but you can only tell how good conversion is once you are on a full dose of Levo ..enough to get fT4 towards top of range and TSH down to 1 or below , and been on this dose for at least 6 weeks... then you look at fT3 to see how much T3 you are getting out of the T4 ) Once you take any T3 you can't tell how your good your conversion is by looking at blood tests . (because then you can't tell what is from conversion and what is from what you've taken)

Hope that makes sense.

That does make sense. Thank you very much for explaining that to me:)

Also how fast did you see a difference?

Not entirely. Although I've been T3 only for a number of years I still need to keep on top of my vitamin levels. Folic acid (folate) for me is a particular issue when it comes to cognitive function.

My situation was that despite my T4 being in the upper range, my TSH remained too high. Then when the t3 was measured it was low. Despite working on optimal micronutrients it didn’t seem to help the conversion. When I went on a 3 month trial of combo T4 and t3, my blood tests were finally in the normal range for the first time ever and I def felt better. Hope that helps?

Yes it does! Thank you so much for explaining so well ☺️ Can I ask what other symptoms it helped with?
