What brands of thyroxine are available on the nhs?

Hi everyone!

I used to get Sanofi brand t4 from Germany but it is now £1000 due to Brexit. I am about to go back to trying the tablets that the NHS can provide me. I haven't had these for years though, could anyone give me a heads up on which may be best, I know Teva for example I am going to avoid. What are my other options please?

Thank you so much!

Abi

What are you trying to avoid (or get) by choosing Sanofi?

Some people prefer Teva to any other UK make. Just because a significant number report here that they do not get on with it doesn't actually mean that you won't. (Not me - I didn't like it.)

I can't think of any way of deciding whether or not Teva works for you other than trying it.

Anyway - you will find every UK product in my document:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

Thank you so much, that's super helpful, I will take a look. I was avoiding lactose in the Sanofi brand. Thank you again!

Aristo is lactose-free but is only available in 100 microgram dosage here in the UK.

They do lots of other dosages across Europe, but only one here. They did intend to increase the range but I have not seen any changes.

I think it is levothyroxine as Sanofi do not produce T3 (under their own name, in Germany).

(Yes - Sanofi own Henning who produce Thybon. They do produce Cynomel in France but supply issues have been going on for a long time with that.)
