changing brands of thyroxine: I am confused,Been... - Thyroid UK
changing brands of thyroxine
Aristo and Vencamil are actually the same Aristo being the brand and they have now named it Vencamil, these are lactose free... worth having a word with your GP and ask them to name Actavis on you prescription, they'll only put it in backets and the pharmacist can ignore it so the only thing you can then do is hand them back and ask them to swop... you might have to try a few pharmacists (often the independent ones are more obliging)
I like Vencamil but others have said they need a small increase in dose when switching to it
helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.
Also, use the government/MHRA document as proof that some brands can affect some people
Actavis changed to Accord a few years ago, and Boots brand, Almus is also Accord.
