Varicocele NHS surgeons/hospitals

My husband has been diagnosed with varicocele, and we're hoping to find specific NHS surgeons or departments with a good track record of performing this surgery to be referred to, given the severity of it. We're new to the UK and are unsure what's the average waiting time for being referred for surgery? Would appreciate any advice, thank you.

Don't get your hopes up of quick service from the NHS. Covid-19 has caused chaos in all areas of the NHS and currently there are around 5 million patients waiting for treatment and the number grows daily. See BMJ article published in April this year:

bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n995

With even some cancer patients having their treatment delayed, the chances of non-urgent treatment being done quickly is very slim.

There is, of course, the option of being referred for private treatment which you could explore, maybe discuss this with your GP if it's an option for your husband.

Not what you're looking for?
