Hi

I always get results saying my MCV and MCH are both above range. I’ve read it can be due to hypothyroid

Anyone know if ft3 plays a part in this ?

Raised MCV generally means that the red blood cells are larger than normal (macrocytic). Causes of macrocytic anemia include:

Vitamin B12 deficiency

Folate deficiency

Liver disease

Alcoholism

Hypothyroidism

Some medications, eg chemo drugs

MCH parallels MCV.

3 months ago you posted these results in this thread and had great advice from Humanbean:

Folate is 4(3.5-20.5)

B12 is 400(150-883)

So looking at those I'd be thinking it's more to do with that than anything to do with FT3. But what are your current thyroid test results?

Blood results from June 125mcgs Levo plus 15mcgs T3

Last dose 8.25 previous day

TSH <0.03 (0.35-4.94)!

Ft4 15.5 (9-19) 69%

Ft3 3.9 (2.6-5.74)41.4%

Add 20% 4.68 66.24%

In that case I wouldn't think your FT3 is causing any problems. The adding 20% is a bit of a guesstimate really, much better to get an accurate result by splitting dose the day before the test and taking last portion of dose 8-12 hours before blood draw.

If I took T3 12 hrs before blood test it would be 8pmIf it was 8 hrs before blood test it would be midnight.

I can’t take it after 4 pm as it keeps me awake
