Hashimotos and the covid vaccine

Hi everyone, I have written an identical post previously but still in a huge dilemma about whether to take the vaccine. I want to, I really do, but I'm concerned about long term contra indications because I have Hashimotos and once I take the vaccine I can't change my mind.

Have any of you found any suggestion that it is unadvisable for people with Hashimotos?

Obviously there is no long-term research so how can we know?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there I had a similar dilemma as I have Hashimoto’s and also really bad hearing, did not want to risk either.

I also stopped my mother from having the jab for the same reasons.

I consulted with a number of doctors and their view was Covid is worse than any side effects of the jab.

I lost four family members to Covid and then thought living is better than not loving so we all had the jab.

This is not to say the jab is not without risks.

My first month after the jab I felt extremely lethargic and tired.

A friend of mine (who isn’t Hypo) ended up in hospital due to severe reaction to the jab, she’s been advised not to have a second dose as it could be fatal to her. This now puts her in a massive limbo in terms of life and work as she’s not vaccinated and the world is opening up.

Ultimately it’s your choice, there is indeed a risk but the effects of Covid are scary and the threat to life is very real indeed.

I’ve given you a balanced view based on my experience and thoughts, others may disagree.

All medicines have side effects, some commonly prescribed anti depressants actually come with a risk of sudden death which is frightening given how freely GPs like to dish these out.

Hi Juanita1957

Lots of folks here with Hashi’s have had one if not two injections. You can read about some of their reactions by following the links here:

Had the same worries, but decided to go for it as the amount of studies coming out on how covid effects health longterm is just worrying. Bear in mind, I was not optimal when I went to get two jabs.

I also had a blood test for Hashis antibodies before and after the jab, they have increased by 20% for whatever reason.

After the 1st Pfizer I was tired, but my mood has lifted, neck was a bitt stiff the second day, but I was also on my period, so who knows what caused what ( I get stiff neck when hypo on my period). 3rd day I felt really tired and then absolutely fine.

After the 2nd Pfizer was much better than after the first one, not so tired, good mood, but got chills at night and 37.8 light fever, was fine next morning, and then again 37.8 on the dot the 2nd night and then absolutely fine.

My two friends have Hashis, both of them were feeling very tired, one had a flu, the other extreme sleepiness and numbness in different parts of body. They had Pfizer and Moderna. Oh and they are more optimal with meds than me.

There is always a risk, like with everything, my doctor said it had to be my own decision as they don't know what effect it will have.
