Don’t know if this has anything to do with medication. But feeling sick, Gastro problem. Lack of sleep. Tummy been upset for over two weeks. To much gas as well, finding it hard. And just about had enough. I’d been dropped to 150mg to 125 mg levo since January. And only started to fell bad over the last two weeks. And been put on vitamin D tablets as well. I’ve not had a period for 4 months now,

I’d missed my appointment. Any help will be great full.

Do you have a thyroid blood test to share Haze1975? Why did your GP / spending reduce your Levo? Have you trialled being gluten free? Eliminating gluten helped resolve all my stomach issues & many people with thyroid issues find they are better without it. Have you had ferritin, folate and B12 checked? Like Vit D, getting these key vitamins optimal may really help. Best wishes to you.

They reduced because they thought I’d was over medication. Haven’t had a blood test since February.

I would definitely re test; I use Medichecks to do this and the tests are often discounted on Thursdays.

You might find some brands my not agree with you. Most people find sticking to one brand is better. You can request they give you the same brand. What have you got at the moment?

You are very knowledgeable about your wife’s condition. I’m glad she has found some improvement as a result of your both pushing for answers and better treatment.

My experience of having thyroid problems and seeing how doctors deal with (or don’t deal with) them is exactly yours. I can’t fathom how little attention is paid to reported symptoms.

And how much energy goes into brushing-off all thyroid patients.

I told a GP in A&E a few weeks ago - in answer to her question about what medication I am on - that I take T3, her response was full of disdain, bordering on fury:

“T3?!! Who prescribed you that?”

“I went to see a private endocrinologist, after 7 years of being diagnosed as having Hashimoto’s and not having seen one on the NHS”.

“I’ve been a GP for 35 years and never referred anyone with uncomplicated Hashimoto’s to see an endocrinologist. Why did you think you needed to see one?”

“My GP gave me bad advice in the past, eg. advised me to reduce my Levithyroxine dose as soon as I became pregnant, & I feel awful on levothyroxine alone”.

We moved on to less controversial subjects after she made it clear my T3 prescription was very irregular.

After that conversation, I wonder what GPs think of us patients who all report not feeling well on levo: do they think we are making it up, or write us off as demanding, for wanting to feel well?

I would like to one day meet a doctor who has Hashimoto’s and therefore knowledge about what we all go through. The medical syllabus itself seems to be lacking.

I will look out for the book and You Tube. Agree that this website is invaluable.
