Hello everyone! I’m wondering if anyone has experienced hand weakness and whether this has been linked to thyroid issues or medication? About a year ago, I noticed my hands gripping strength becoming weaker but didn’t think much about it. Recently, this has become more problematic. I’m having to use both hands to pour a drink from a large bottle or jug and to hold heavier items and to even hold open a small and light paperback book! Any squeezing is tricky, including getting hand cream out of a tube. The issue seems worse in the morning. There is no pain. I’m on NDT with TSH suppressed according to my last blood test (GP thinks I’m over-medicated, but my general well-being is good and I know my wonderful old endocrinologist saw that TSH tends to be below range when on NDT). I’m quite scared the hand gripping weakness may be something more serious and absolutely will contact my GP, but I’d like to hear if anyone thinks there may be a connection with thyroid here before I start digging for other possibilities! Thank you in advance x

Looks like it could well be related:

Do you feel correctly medicated?
This is one of the problems I had when my thyroid hormone was low. Even opening a package of food was difficult. My muscles became weak.

I had this and visited a chiropractor who measured my grip which was very weak. When I started on B complex supplement and thyroid medication was optimal this improved considerably & I can now open jars in kitchen and use hand tools in garden. My grip strength at the chiropractors is now much better.
