TSH post partial thyroidectomy

6 weeks post hemi thyroidectomy and my TSH is now 5.050 (0.27-4.20 mIU/l) . previously normal for me was around 1.25. I am seeing the surgeon tomorrow for a post surgical review. Is he likely to prescribe thyroxine or ask me to wait another few weeks? My Free T4 was 17.81 (12-22pmol/l) I'm exhausted and worried if I don't do something now that I won't be able to function for the summer holidays with the children. The surgeon only tested TSH and T 4. I have had other bloods privately which showed vitamin D was borderline low as was ferritin.

I had the same procedure and was placed on Levo when my TSH was 5, however it took me two years to get to that point because I felt great after my surgery. My endo told me that most people with a hemi need Levo afterwards but he failed to tell me that before the surgery and the ENT surgeon told me that the other side should pick up the slack, boy was he wrong. Two years later I was back at the endo with slight fatigue. I got on the Levo because I didn't want another growth.

Hi there, I was left for six weeks after my surgery without any medication and felt awful. If your tsh is out of range I hope they also test for your ft3 (which they do at my doctors). Otherwise I think I would be getting it tested privately to see where it’s at 😊
