BEFORE considering seeing any thyroid specialist endocrinologist we ALWAYS Recommend getting FULL thyroid and vitamins tested

All vitamins need to be optimal BEFORE considering adding T3

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

When on T3, day before test, split dose into three smaller doses roughly equal 8 hour intervals. Taking last dose T3 at roughly 8-12 hours before test

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Hi, came across this post-all the info above is very helpful. I’m taking NDT with some additional T3. When should the last dose be prior to thyroid blood tests, thank you 🙂

Thank you ! I usually spilt my dose into 2 (morning & lunch ) and have my last meds at approx 1pm-I’m aiming to do my blood test around 8/8.30am the following morning -would that work ? Thanks

Can you move 2nd dose to 8pm?
