Healthwatch have been great in advocating for one of our members who needs to access T3 but we need some further evidence.
Is anyone in those areas being prescribed liothyronine on the NHS? Please let me know. If anyone wants to be named, please send me an email to: enquiries@thyroiduk.org We need to know if it's being prescribed at all.
If you don't want to be named but do get liothyronine prescribed, please let me know below.
Alternatively, if you have been refused liothyronine in these areas, we need to know that too.
Do get involved in this. The more local Healthwatch's we can get involved in this, the better. One area at a time....

Thanks for the link SlowDragon. Interesting!! Just sat and clicked on the timeline across the top. Early in the year 2017 (prior to the NHS consultation) lighter colours noticeably more evident. Then when you click on Dec. 17 (just after the outcome of the consultation was announced in the Nov.) several areas suddenly jump to a darker blue. (Less prescribing!) I know I'm stating the obvious but interesting to see the effects of that consultation in solid data terms.
Thank you for this. We really need someone who is willing to speak with Healthwatch. This is the only way we will be able to help people access T3. It will need to be done in all the CCG areas that have made liothyronine a red drug (banned).
lynmynott as you know Healthwatch Norfolk were hugely supportive, and finally Norfolk & Waveney CCG reinstated T3 on the formulary. I'm happy to talk to anyone if I can help. And I'm sure Healthwatch Norfolk would talk to any other HW organisations in the country to help put pressure of other CCGs.
Hi Lyn, redlisted in Somerset. I do have T3 on NHS GP named patient basis as Endo has confirmed clinical need after 8 years of T3 only. CCG eventually admitted the red listing is guideline only. My contact in Healthwatch Somerset was Hannah Gray in 2020. She always passed on to Healthwatch England Ollie ??? from whom I never received a response. Endo says she cannot even trial new patients from adjacent CCGs.
Thanks very much for this info. Why red list it if it's only guideline? Mad! Healthwatch are being helpful but Covid really spoiled all our plans to campaign.
I am in Brighton and my T3 is prescribed by my psychiatrist but local CCG wouldn’t Endo wouldn’t prescribe it for me. Happy to give my name to you privately Lynne. Best Wishes
Brighton CCG have always been difficult. At the moment we need some names of those who do get it in Rotherham and Sheffield but we will be moving to other areas as well so watch out for our announcements.
