Hi all- jst got bloods bck and was wondering your thoughts.
1/4 grain Armour
TSH 4.7 (0.2- 4.2)
FT4 11.7 (12-22)
FT3 4.3 (3.1-6.8)
My bloods 6 wks earlier had FT3 at 4.7. Both TSH and FT4 Hv improved (previous post)
Currently my main feeling is palpitations which i think is normally associated with over medication but the dose I’m on and my bloods don’t back that up.
I wld think I have to up my dose but I’m a bit concerned I will make the palpitations worse.
Any thoughts advice gratefully appreciated!

Thanks for your advice. The palpitations have only started in about the last 3 weeks and am jst worried they are the meds and not the thyroid symptom. But I am new to this and maybe I am attributing it incorrectly.
I feel I shd up the dose- wld you split this? Some people say they can’t tolerate all dose at one time. Not sure what their experience is though.
Jst to add I’ve only been on armour since mid March.. all other symptoms/side effects have resolved although I think I am now waking early with the palpitations. Thyroids are exhausting!
Thx- Hv been checked recently. B12 top of range.. vit D lower end of range and am working on that. Can’t seem to get ferritin up- can u recommend a good quality supplement or Hv any tips arnd this? I am using ferrous sulphate but sometimes I do forget to take.
I doubt it would make your palpitations worse. I think you may be experiencing those symptoms because of being rather undermedicated.
A quarter grain of NDT is almost not worth bothering with! That might sound counterintuitive but I’ll explain. You can’t use thyroid hormones to top up what your thyroid is producing. Taking any amount of thyroid hormone tends to result in your body not making any of its own. I’d lay money on your body being able to produce more hormones than a 1/4 grain by itself—so in effect, you’re probably now more hypothyroid than you were to start with. A quarter grain is a mere 8-9mcg T4 and 2mcg T3.
Your blood results bear this out. And even though your TSH is high in range, that signalling hormone doesn’t seem to be having the desired effect—your thyroid isn’t picking up the slack and making additional hormone.
I’d be looking to increase my dose if I were in your shoes.
I had palpitations when the NDT I was taking did not work, so it can happen on too low a dose too. As soon as I changed brand, the palps went, and I am sure yours will go too when you up your dose - take it gently though, up it to half a grain for a few weeks and then up it a bit more depending on how you are feeling.
