So ten days of reducing by 12.5 mcg a day ,due to being overmedicated.Feel awful nausea ,mainly overwhelmed and faint.Sometimes ,maybe later in the day I feel a bit better, but mornings are awful. If I have to go to local shop,I whiz found because I feel so faint and symptoms are worse ,even if I have to talk to someone at home.I was taking the usual dose for about a year and suddenly went over replaced with thyroxine, don't know why.I thought it may be down to two lots of antibiotics I took.Question is how long will this awful feeling last ? I am going to ask for Endo referral.

How long will this feeling last
Hi there,What were your thyroid results do u know?
Then everyone on here can see if you should have actually had a decrease or not...
Alot of doctors lower the levo just relying on the tsh only but this is completely insane..
The Ft4 and Ft3 levels are the most important and the most reliable indicators of an increase or decrease...
From previous post
So TSH 0.06 free t4 21.3.Symptoms panic, heat anxious, climbing the walls.Dr said to drop from 112.5 mcg to 100 mcg daily.
Was test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine at each prescription
After antibiotics gut bacteria will be wiped out. Have you considered taking probiotics, fermented foods like kefir, sauerkraut, kombucha etc
This will help get gut bacteria back
Just testing TSH and Ft4 is completely inadequate
Obviously need Ft3 tested too
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamins last tested
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
But you could get vitamin levels tested now
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?

It's hard to say how long your symptoms will last without seeing the lab ranges and your FT3 level. I think the doctor must feel you are only marginally overmedicated if dropping only by 12.5 mcg. Therefore, I wonder if your symptoms are some other reason.
Some things to consider are low vitamin levels, Slow dragon has advised on tests I see. Side effects of the antibiotics. Effects on your body of the infection for which you needed antibiotics. Side effects of other medication you take. Lack of balanced nutrition, another health condition that needs investigating.
I recently posted about overmedication and some people responded with a useful list of symptoms. You could compare, it may vary a little in different people, I wouldn't know for sure.

Thanks for reply.GP really didn't know how much to reduced said try 12.5 mcg and phone him in a week.
Can you get a private test via a reliable lab like Medichecks that will test FT3, FT4 and TSH altogether? That will give a better indication on whether you are overmedicated as you need to view the FT3 which NHS rarely do. If it's not overmedication then you don't want to drop your thyroid hormone lower. GP sounds uncertain of cause of your symptoms too. Do your symptoms sound like the ones listed?
