Or maybe my Endocronologist is worried about giving me a higher dose as Tirosint made me sweat like mad?!?

Have any of you had side effects with Tirosint?

Believe me when I was diagnosed in 2018 and started taking Tirosint life has been a rollercoaster!

In my teens I was always felt cold and tired. If I tidied and cleaned up the house I would feel pain all over my body. So something wasn’t right from the start! I still suffer from muscle pain in my body - it’s awful!

My comment would be that the Tirosint capsules are better absorbed than levothyroxine tablets. I found them rather more powerful, at least 10% stronger in their impact on a like for like basis. It therefore takes a time to get used to them and you might therefore need a slightly reduced dose.

My daughter has had a long, complicated thyroid and fibromyalgia journey. Her endo wanted her to be on Tyrosint with Cytomel, and it seemed good at first, but little by little she became nauseous. She would be hungry but feel unable to eat, it was really odd. Because it came on gradually after she switched to Tyrosint, it took us a while to figure out that it was the cause, and she lost almost 20 pounds! She's been back on Armour thyroid now for a month (wow, did that take begging, the endo hated that idea, though it was the only med that worked for her). And she's drastically improved. Your mileage may vary! She's very sensitive to everything.

I was trialed on Tirosint after developing absorption problems while long term on Synthroid. I noticed right away I was losing weight on Tirosint. It seemed the weight loss was fluid. This may have been the source of dark shadows around my eyes, at least my Endocrinologist seemed to attribute it to weight loss.

I now take a daily balanced mixture of these two medications with the aim of improved absorption while still maintaining my weight. I seem to also develop chest pain when I’ve tried to increase my Tirosint dose. I wish that I could tolerate higher Tirosint doses better, as it greatly improves my mood, memory & overall sense of well being.

How much tirosint do you take?

Only 13 mcg of Tirosint daily currently. I haven't been able to maintain my weight on a higher dose unfortunately, even when I have tried adding 6 mcg (liquid) once a week. I may have methemoglobinemia (possible cytochrome b5 reductase enzyme deficiency) & possibly be responding differently to it.

After reading Shaw's post here it dawned on me I more definitely have increased appetite. I never thought to even attribute this to Tirosint. It is actually a big relief to know that this may well be the cause. Lactose free low fat yogurt seems to help me the most in keeping my weight stable.

Tirosint is the crack of T4 meds and it's $$$$. I did not do well on it. I now take all thyroid meds (T4, T4+T3, NDT) with food four times a day. Dr. Blanchard had a theory that T4 was not meant to come into contact with the lining of the stomach and most of his patients took T4 w/food.
