Boots in Derbyshire no longer supplying Mercury Pharma Liothyronine

Hi every body, my local Boots the Chemist have informed me today that they can no longer supply me with Mercury Pharma Liothyronine - which I have had for 4 years - and suspect that its been purchased by another pharmaceutical again [insert eye rolling emoji here :-/ ].

Boots say that they can supply Teva UK Ltd, Morningside Healthcare (special order), Accord Healthcare and Advanz Healthcare.

* Does anyone know what's happening with Mercury Pharma Liothyronine?

* Does anyone have a list of excipients for each of the 4 brands listed above, so that I can evaluate the brand that is the closest to Mercury Pharma excipient amounts?

Thank you very much for your support xx

Lovely ... thankyou Jazzw and to helvella :-) too. I have found info on Teva, Advanz and Morning side, but Accord is not listed in PDF as far as I can see.

There is a reason for that - so far as I can see, there is no such product!

What I think is happening is that Boots are misinterpreting the information.

The British National Formulary lists Medicinal Forms:

bnf.nice.org.uk/medicinal-f...

Which identifies distributors - not manufacturers.

Maybe their own system does something similar?

There was another post a little while ago - two years!

It is also possible that Accord are acting as an "own label supplier" - just as Almus do with Accord levothyroxine.

I get Morningside lio from Boots so they should be able to get that too. I have used both teva and morningside and found them fine.

Just try ringing around different pharmacies

Small independent pharmacies are often far more helpful

Do you realise that Advanz is the owner of Mercury Pharma?

You can see both names on the Liothyronine documentation here:

medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

I'd be amazed if what is being described to you as Advanz Healthcare product isn't the same Mercury Pharma (and Tertroxin) product as ever.

ADDING:

Liothyronine is not listed as a product of Accord Healthcare or Accord UK (the latter being the major part of Accord in the UK by number of products):

accord-healthcare.com/uk/ge...

accord-healthcare.com/uk/pr...

Yes thank you @helvella ... you're quite right it looks like Boots the Chemist are getting confused. I actually have on the first line of my prescription "Mercury Pharma" Liothyronine 20mcg and they substituted Teva instead, which is weird! They should really know that Advanz is the owner of Mercury Pharma, of course I didn't know until today. I always go through the ritual of getting them to check the thyroid brands they have put it in the bag before I take it from them and today it totally paid off to do that. I will ask them for a P.I.L for the Advanz Healthcare just to double check the excipients 👍

Ah - I thought you were leading them into claiming they would get it for you, but then being unable to do so. :-)
