Sandoz and mylan levothyroxine

Hi has anyone switched from sandoz to mylan levothyroxine due to the discontinuance of sandoz brand ? If so any feedback? I switched and the mylan brand seems weaker and my labs are up now from that

We don't have those brands here in the UK, and as a good majority of our members are UK based you may not get many replies. We do have quite a few US members so hopefully you will get some responses.

Are you sure that Sandoz has been discontinued?

I believe that Cediprof used to make the product for Sandoz and there was a court case about that. But Sandoz appear to have returned with their product made by Neolpharma and/or Pathen Puerto Rica, Inc.

I am not certain whether this product, which was only approved by the FDA in December 2020, is identical to the product they used to supply.

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and many in other countries.

I'm in the USA and from my understanding sandoz discontinued levothyroxine but I've been researching and Lannett may be making the same levothyroxine maybe they bought out sandoz I'm still researching in hope of finding something ..thank you so much

Lannett used to supply Unithroid under their own name. But they have fairly recently changed.

In the document I linked to, there are onward links to all the USA levothyroxine (and liothyronine) products listed by the FDA on their DailyMed site.

I have been on Sandoz brand levothyroxine for quite a while. As of the summer/fall of 2020 was I having issues with my TSH rising significantly.mat that lint my pharmacy did not tell me about the situation of alannett taking over distribution of Sandoz,s Levothyroxine. I now have my TSH in the range in which I am comfortable and I have developed side effects that I have never had before on Sandoz..headache, high blood pressure, weight loss, heart palpitations. I cut back on my own (knowing my TSH will probably rise) until I can reach my doctor. Within 2 days of cutting back my symptoms dissipated. I question whether in fact the Lannett Levothyroxine is actually the Sandoz product I was taking. My doctor

R was not aware of the distribution take over by Lannett. Anyone else having side effect issues since Sandoz distribution was taken over by Lannett?

Hi I tried mylan after sandoz and it had me retaining fluid and my levels went up because the strength isnt as strong as sandoz, as someone pointed out. I recently started lannett about 2 weeks its strong because when my primary dr checked tsh it was 0.2 and 2 weeks earlier while I was still on Mylan it went to 0.6 which makes me feel hypo.. when I was on sandoz tsh stayed around 0.4 that's the level I'm comfortable at. So now with lannett I'm taking half 1 day out of the week to see if it balances out . I'm not sure if it's the same as sandoz but I'm curious as well . I think you did the right thing by cutting back especially since it stopped the side effects you were having

Hey there, I took the Sandoz distributed Levo which was manufactured by Cediprof in Puerto Rico. It's not discontinued but Lannett swooped in and took over distributing. I've tried to find which pharmacies they're sending it to without luck. The Cediprof Levo is a little more potent and known to be more potent by the FDA. You're probably going to have to take a little extra of the Mylan one or two days a week.

Hello yes I've looked for lannett here and I just asked my doctor to increase mylan 1 extra tablet a week yesterday.. I've been on it 6 weeks and I'm up a few pounds even though I haven't changed my eating and my tsh went from 0.4 where my body is comfortable at to 0.7 and I feel the difference that's why I initially asked dr to check me after starting mylan for a few weeks... it's quite frustrating thank you so much

Sandoz fought hard to keep rights to Cediprof distribution because they said it would affect many thyroid patient's health and it did. Many were switched over to Euthyrox and became ill. I've really struggled with switching over to Levoxyl brand. Cediprof's bioavailability is right on point. Mylan was investigated by the FDA in 2019 for good manufacturing practice violations. I don't know if they manufacture thyroid meds in the state but I decided not to switch to Mylan.

Hi I was on Sandoz and was switched to Euthyrox which gave me terrible diarrhea. At first I thought I must have been eating gluten, since I have celiac disease. Then I switched to Amneal and still had issues. I have cut the Amneal pill in half, and that seems to help. I am interested in trying Lannett as it is supposed to be gluten-free but I don't know where to find it.
