Hi all,I've been taking Wockhardt levothyroxine for almost 2 years but recently I've changed it to Accord as my pharmacy;
a) see no difference in brands š
b) despite putting notes on their system, sometimes they just ignore/miss it.
c) can't get a hold of the brand,
I went on long holidays 3 weeks ago and took new supply of Accord as that's all they had in stock and I would run out my existing tablets during my holidays. Strangely, I've been feeling much better since the change (over 2 weeks now) š¤ I don't know if it's the new brand, holidays mode (I've been back since 04/07) or taking melatonin tablets to sleep better after 8h time difference.
Even though I'm sleeping little, 5.5h and I feel tired but I'm still functioning well, I feel calmer and some how happier. Almost like what I remember from before the illness.
Do you think this can be linked to the brand change?

The curiosity here isn't that changing formulation makes a difference. Many report that! And it is usually unpredictable.
Rather that you have been able to switch between Wockhardt (who only produce 25 microgram tablets) and Accord (who only produce 50 and 100 microgram tablets)!
helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and Google Drive, and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.
I am on an antidepressant and have been for many years. And āI'm sleeping little, 5.5h and I feel tired but I'm still functioning well, I feel calmer and some how happierā has been roughly my experience too. Iāve consistently been on Accord, and addressing low vitamin levels mind, and itās still early days for me i.e. lots of other littering symptoms still.
I have to check the brand with I get home from work as helvella has mentioned that accord doesn't do 25mcg t-shirts and that's what I'm taking. Regardless, it's a different brand and I'm not sure if that's the reason why I'm feeling better. If that's the case and people see significant difference than I'd definitely stay in this one.Pre hypo diagnose I thought I had depression for years and it's not been treated. Just before taking very ill with thyroid I honestly saw no reason to live (though I'd never do anything stupid but I saw no light). Since being on levo my life has changed. Thyroid is a sneaky organ messing up everything. I'll still have other symptoms as you say but as long as the major ones improve, I'm happy.
I hope you keep getting better and perhaps you won't require antidepressants!
I'm on 75mcg. I checked again and my new tablets are mercury. I feel so much better in them. But I'm also taking Vit B12 + Gogi berry jellies which I bought on holidays in usa. Maybe that's them.
Well, it was the acacia in MP that didnāt agree with me. Itās all trial and error. Iām glad youāve found something that makes you feel better. Good luck
I want sure if different brand could make such difference though. Now I'm suffering from heartburn which I only get when I'm on too large dose š¤ though my dude has not changed.Which one are you on?
I take Wockhardt only, currently trialling 87.5 mcg along with 20 mcg T3 compounded capsules. Accord gave me so many side effects but I donāt know which of the ingredients caused the problem - I wonāt touch either those or MP again. Weāre all so different in what we can and canāt tolerate. I envy those who donāt seem to notice any difference whatever the brand.
Hi, I just wanted to ask what we're those side effects you were expecting while taking Accord. I'm taking mercury and even though I thoughts I feel better, I get headaches every day now and losing more hair. I've got really bad tinnitus though I had that before while taking wockhards. It only does while I was on holidays in usa which is strange.
Mercury Pharma gave me a constant headache and I think it could be the acacia. Accord (when I was taking it, it was boxed as Northstar) gave me headache, bloating, intestinal pain and constipation 24/7, it just didnāt suit me at all. I have never tried Teva and donāt ever intend to as Iāve found Wockhardt is a brand that appears to suit me. Have you tried Accord? It may well suit you.
I might've but I would have to check on the NHS app. I'm not sure if it's there. I'll have a look. I've been having headaches all the time since being on Mercury and my heart gets so greasy after one day. For me this is an indication there's something not quite right. I feel sweaty and clammy as well, again another indication something is happening either with thyroid or meds.
Interesting, especially as you've now discovered it's MercuryPharma you feel better taking, and not Accord as you thought until you checked. If you're interested I've put up several Posts asking about difference in brands, and the effects of changes in brands. MercuryPharma is the brand that suits my system. MercuryPharma and Eltroxin are the same, made by Advanz Pharma.
As MercuryPharma is not always available, for some unknown supply reason, and Eltroxin usually is, it is now written on my prescription Eltroxin brand only. If (and when) the pharmacy give me a different brand, I give them straight back....other brands make me ill, and I've spent far too long discovering this, and trying to get myself stable again.
I've been on Wockhardt for 2 years and didn't feel well but I didn't want to experiment. I also have it written on my prescription Wockhardt only but that last time they didn't have it and gave me mercury trying to tell me they are all the same. I only took it as I had no other choice as I was going away the next day. I'll keep taking it for longer to see if the effect stays
Mmmm I understand. I had no plans to experiment.... it was forced on me and my lack of knowledge re differing brands possibly being an issue. I hope you continue to do well on MP. 6 weeks minimum, though NICE are now saying 8 weeks for changes.
