Hi,

would someone be able to give me their thoughts on my latest results?

TSH: 1.19mlU/L and FT4: 13.9pmol/l.

Consultant wants to discharge me as he thinks my readings are good, but still getting brain fog, heavy, strained and tired eyes and a lack of energy.

I'm on125mcg alternate days. Taking 100mch mercury pharma and 25mcg tevo. not to keen on mixing brands tbh.

I've heard TSH is to be closer to 0.0 if possible.

Was doing ok, but the last week has been really tough.

Many thanks people!

To do that we need the reference range for FT4 please. Also testing FT3 as well gives a full picture, we can't tell whether you convert T4 to T3 well enough without an FT3 result.

Sounds like undermedication which is why we need the range for FT4 and FT3 to also be tested at the same time.

So just 62.5mcg daily? That is a very low dose, basically just a starter dose.

Mercury Pharma do a 25mcg tablet so if your pharmacy can get 100mcg tablets then they should be able to get 25mcg ones too.

Not necessarily. The aim of a treated Hypo patient on Levo only, generally, is for TSh to be 1 or below if that is where you feel well.

HI,

Thank you for your reply. What do you mean by reference range for FT4? I don't think i have ever been tested for FT3, if I have I've never seen the results.

The dose it 100mcg one day and 125mcg the day after.

Ok that's good news on the 25mch mercury pharma dose I will chase the chemist up.

Ok thank you.

What do you mean by reference range for FT4?

Every blood test has a reference range. Your doctor looks at your result and looks to see if it comes within that reference range. If your result is outside the reference range it is abnormal and tells them something is wrong. Have a look at this post and you will see a print out of results with reference ranges at the side:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Ranges vary from lab to lab which is why we always need the reference range that comes with the result.

Always ask for a print out of your results, that way you can keep an eye on things yourself and you will know at what level within the range, and what dose of medication, you feel well and at what level/dose you are not well, this is vital and important information for you when discussing how you feel with your doctor and is useful to show if you are symptomatic and need a dose increase.

I don't think i have ever been tested for FT3, if I have I've never seen the results.

Unfortunately that seems to be the norm but FT3 is the most important test. T4 is a storage hormone and it converts to T3 which is the active hormone every cell in our bodies need. It's the FT3 test which tells us if we are optimally medicated, under medicated or overmedicated. It's just a shame that doctors aren't taught this.

The dose it 100mcg one day and 125mcg the day after.

Yes, you explained that in your first post.

Hopefully they will get that brand for you. If they say they can't then tell them that Teva gives you side effects and you've had to "yellow card" it (that means you've reported it to the MHRA), and that you've been told to stick to the MP brand, same as your 100mcg tablets, as you know you are fine with that. OK that may be a little white lie but it gives them a good reason not to give you Teva.

Hi,I've never had results back like the example you sent the link to. Mine are just basic readings of my results. I will ask them for a full blood test and readings with the ranges Inc. I'm under a NHS specialist at the moment, they don't seem much better than the local GP tbh.

Thank you

Joe

Hi,I've never had results back like the example you sent the link to.

Those in the link are from a private lab. The ones your GP will print for you will look like the attached picture. You have to ask for your results, they will never be offered to you, at your GP surgery you ask the receptionist. If you get a letter from the hospital the results may be in the letter but they don't tend to put the reference ranges with them so you'd have to ring up and ask for them.
