Do you think having an autoimmune condition(hashimotos) slows down the recovery of an infection? I’ve had an infected toe I did a 2 week course of antibiotics and now have to do another week course it’s just not healing as quickly as it should.

That is my impression and my experience, yes. Hope your toe gets better soon. :)

Slow healing is one of many lovely side effects of hashimoto’s!

Low zinc levels can impair wound healing. Not sure if this extends to infection necessarily but zinc is often low for folks with hashimotos. I’ve run out of zinc a couple of times over lockdown and noticed in the time I wasn’t taking it that even things like acne were worse (larger, more infected pimples). Started on the zinc again and it usually cleared up in a week or two.

I have been wondering the same thing. I had a nasty chest infection that took weeks to clear and I’m just getting over one humdinger cold. I tore one of my rib muscles due to excessive coughing too. Neither were covid. Is it harder to get over infections in general?
