No thyroid tests there, just liver function test and Us and Es.

All within range except for raised alkaline phosphatase. You can check out what the results mean here and maybe discuss this with your GP.

Yes thought so, I spoke with the doctor a week after these tests were done and he told me I had my thyroid checked and it was within the range, so it wasn't that, that was causing me extreme fatigue and other symptoms. He also said that he can see on these results the range what the meds have altered and that he can tell whether I am taking my meds or not (I had to laugh) he was a bit stumped....I said, could it be gall bladder? Kidney stones? he said my kidney is totally fine and let me go speak to my colleagues and I will get back to you so I am no further forward then a month ago. He told me the pain in my kidney area - upper, back, is indeed psychological, yep psychological along with cloudy, smelly pee the latter has subsided now as I took a dose of antibiotics what I was taking for my tooth from the dentist so I think those cleared whatever away. I have looked the result of alkaline whatnot soooo I'm either pregnant have gallstones or have sclerosis of the liver 😳

I don't want a prize thank you 🀣🀣

Back to being serious what should I do?

Thanks you 😘

Back to being serious what should I do?

I'm not medically trained, I'm afraid I can't say what you can do about your raised Alkaline Phosphatase, it's something to discuss with your GP, or maybe a different one. I would also ask him where the thyroid tests are on that sheet!

Yes, please see a different doctor. This fella sounds like a quack. What does he mean by "He also said that he can see on these results the range what the meds have altered". What? Thyroid meds on liver function??

Hey there :

Sorry we have no real thyroid results and just your doctor's psychic reading ability to rely on.

Would it be worth registering for " on line " access to all your medical records so you have a bit more autonomy ?

You could get a private test done :

We do need optimal ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D - as well as T3 and T4 levels ?

When were these last tested - I was refused these by my surgery - you might be more fortunate as your doctors with special powers and insight ????

There is a list of private companies who'll do the bloods if all else fails but considering your under an endo and in treatment I would have though the NHS would cover these bases.

That pain at the back/kidney area is known on these forums. Often thyroid patients get it as the adrenals are being overworked.

My first results are below in the photo the second results are yet to be found and the psychic doctor is really annoying me right now. I have still got the pain in my back to the point I'm struggling to move today and breathing is also bad.....anyway last results that's all I have right now until I pop in today. I have requested online results sixteen times yep sixteen and nothing has come of that so I wil also ask about that today siigh.....🀞

Did you try to put photo of results below ? it's not there.

have you seen any thyroid results at all yet ? . I see from previous posts you are newly on carbimazole, and Doctor has said "he told me I had my thyroid checked and it was within the range, so it wasn't that, that was causing .... He also said that he can see on these results the range what the meds have altered and that he can tell whether I am taking my meds or not "

So presumably he means he can see from some thyroid blood results that taking carbimazole has reduced your fT4 /3 hormone levels ,and they are now in range, or perhaps he means that your TSH has now risen and is back in range.

If you are still having trouble with the online access, maybe ring reception and ask for a printout of latest thyroid function tests (TSH/fT4/fT3 ), if you can't go to collect it perhaps they could post it ?, or failing that you could just ask for them to be read down the phone, i've done that recently due to not wanting to be a nuisance re. Covid.

If you get them read down the phone be extremely clear about the decimal point in the results.

They should look like this :-

Test .......result...... lab range

TSH ........ 0.0 ............[ ? - ? ]......... (thyroid stimulating hormone)

fT4 ..........0.0 .............[ ? - ? ]..........(Free T4/ Free thyroxine)

fT3...........0.0.............[ ? - ? ]...........(Free T3 )

They are allowed to give your results as long as as doctor has seen them first ... and the doctor has already told you he's seen them .. so don't get fobbed off...

Either you had some thyroid function tests done, in which case you want to know the actual results, as is your right, and you want to know which of your thyroid results is now 'in range',

Or , you haven't had any done and your Doctor is indeed psychic :)

If you haven't had any done , then they obviously need doing to monitor your carbimazole dose safely.

What meds are you on?

Will only be able to advise if we have that context. I suspect you are on Liothyronin with those results.

Carbozimole 15mg daily since being diagnosed. I was fine for a bit then have dipped and gone backwards I feel just getting back with it now but really pushing myself to do anything then I will just have the need to lay down to recharge....

Hey there :

What's happening about the back pain ?

Do you think it might be related to the Carbimazole - is there an information leaflet ?

Some people get on better with Propylthiourcil - PTU for short ?

Your levels are now down and in range - I see a low suppressed TSH which is to be expected :

a T3 at 5.20 - ( 3.8 - 6.0 ) and T4 at 12 - ( 7.80 - 21.00 ) :

I think it inevitable that you feel exhausted, it is just one symptom amongst so many when the body goes into overdrive and metabolism speeds up like this :

Do you think the AT drug could be titrated down a little to allow your own thyroid to come back on stream a little.

The other option maybe to start to add in a little T4 so you don't fall to far into hypohyroidism which is equally debilitating

When is your next endo appointment as I think it's close to decision time ?

The doc said he would get back to me but I feel he was fobbing me off just to get off the phone, so nothing as yet. I go see Endo tom afternoon so hopefully will see something better from him and there is no leaflet with carbz I just get a bottle/tub with no box or leaflet. I will see what endo says tom about the PTU as this seems a better idea I dont know if I'm coming or going these days. I can't plan, I can't even get moving some days I wake up to go back to sleep but I am trying thank you for your response u do make me feel at ease 😊

pennyannieβ€’ in reply toM1zzM4zz

No worries,

The AT medication is like putting you on automatic pilot :

The endo has the controls and now he needs to decide what to do :

He may suggest to reduce the AT blocking your own thyroid production - BUT -

please remember if your antibodies are still raging this isn't a good idea :

He may choose to add back in some T4 keeping your AT drug at the current level - this is called Block and Replace : and stops your levels falling any further and into hypothyroidism.

I don't know if the choice is the endo's to make or it's a hosital preferred treatment option :

Do tell the endo how you feel, try and be involved in any decision making as your opinion does matter and it's your treatment plan.

I was told at my very first hospital appointment that I was to have RAI the following year and no endo talked to me of finding remission or what Graves was all about.

You do need to keep your T3 and T4 levels up the range : if what I've written above is correct your T3 is now about 64% and your T4 at around 31% through these ranges.

Hope that gives you little more understanding of where you are in this phase of the disease,

If your antibodies are still high, it's pointless looking for remission, and you need to stay on the AT drugs, possibly with a Block and Replace regime until such time as when your immune system response calms down and your antibodies come back into range.

P.S. Please also ask if you can have your ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D levels tested as we do need to keep our core strength strong and solid and when metabolism is too fast or too slow - hyper or hypo - your abilty to extract your essential nutrients out of your food can be jeopardised.

Sorry you have no PIL for the carbomazole - suggest you google this :
