Hi I’m new here and hopefully your can assist me in my search for the name of my medication.

7 years ago I had Gout on a few occasions and was always prescribed Painkillers for a few days and it always went away only to return months later .

However on my last visit to this practice, the doctor informed me he a new medication for gout , a box of 14 tablets , one per day for 7days and complete the course always , retain the other 7 tablets for future use if required.

And I never had Gout for 7 years until now !

That was the name of the medication ?

Thanks

Peter

Do you realise that you are asking on a forum dedicated to thyroid disease?

Gout isn't strongly associated with thyroid disorders (although there might be some connection).

Most UK medicines are identified and described here:

Do you have the medicine helpline leaflet / card?? There’s should be a telephone number on there. Or call your pharmacy where you collected your prescription

If it was prescribed by your doctor, it would be on your records so your practice should be able to find that information for you!

When I had recurring episodes of gout around one toe a few years ago I was given a short term prescription for naproxen.Subsequently I have seen rheumatology about a constantly swollen ankle which he classed as gout although less painful than the toe episodes and now take Allopurinol daily.

Thank you Miffie , I will explore the Naproxen, especially as it was a short term medication .Hopefully your painfully swollen ankle won’t return . Kind regards .

When I got gout several years under my left foot I found that Steak and Beef meats were cause and I therefore gave them up. No more gout and no more pills.

Hey, I know you got a really rotten reply further up (not sure what rattled their cage :-o ), but Scrumbler is one of the good people here. Please don’t let the reply of one idiot taint all the others. People here in the main genuinely try to help—it’s just we’re better at answering questions about thyroid, rather than gout. :)

Every single person on this forum that has replied to you - bar one - has tried to offer support. This is a kind caring community and you have been unbelievably rude. I think a huge apology should be forthcoming but I'm sure that is not going to happen. You must be in great pain but I'm wondering how being obnoxious is helping?

Well "Victor Meldrew" i do remember the name of them and more than 7 years ago.

And instead of insulting Admins all you had to do is type into search bar.Medications for Gout
