We have seen a small number of members report vitamin D intolerance - and it does not appear to make any real difference which form it is taken in. Even transdermally!
It reads as if it could have been prescribed to you? (That is, not just recommended.)
And, if your GP prescribed or recommended it, I'd ask your GP! I really doubt you will get any understanding or help, but it its only right that we do report such things. Eventually, vitamin D intolerance might get recognised.
Yes my doctor has prescribed it and have informed him of the symptoms firstly he told me to leave it off,and he would check alternative options the rheumatology said they would do a bone scan firstly and would agree to do it in a injection form, but my doctor says he doesn't agree as if I get side effects he can't undo it as its in the system where as oral can be stopped.
That is what always concerns me about injecting vitamin D.
Especially as they seem always to use high (or very high) doses.
I suppose it is just about possible that an injection would cause a similar level of unpleasant side effects, for a similar, time - then be OK. But if I were vitamin D intolerant, I would NOT be volunteering as a subject in a trial.
Thank you im not going that way ,no way this is bad enough but when I explained the rapid pulse and a little breathless he seemed to Diss miss it I really don't know if I should take the other low dose as I don't feel too bad at present, the doctor has booked me in for blood for my calcium levels I have read that vit d can send levels up.
And cause rhythm problems with a person heart,I have read also vit d can interfere with the levels of thyroid ?
There has been much discussion about vitamin D in thyroid disorders - but most of it has concentrated on the need to ensure adequate levels. Which is difficult if you are intolerant.
I'm one who cannot tolerate VitD in any form. When my level was seriously low my Endo at the time said she would normally prescribe a high dose injection BUT definitely not for anyone who is intolerant to oral VitD, at least with oral you can stop taking it but with the injection once it's in there's no going back !!
Hi, I can not tolerate VIT D either. Interesting about the mag levels. Can I ask what strength mag you were using for 2-3 weeks before you could tolerate VIT D, as I will give it a go. Thanks
