Abnormal test results

I know this is a long shot. I had my bloods taken and some came back as abnormal. Just had a repeat for PTH TFT VITD. Waiting for results. Does anyone know why I am getting these results?

What were the results? How were they abnormal?

You can legally ask for copies of your results. Ask for a print out via the doctors reception. Some practices offer online access if that is possible set that up.

You have osteoporosis? They are checking your parathyroid hormone which controls calcium and Thyroid function & vit D.

Once you have your results share on here. Include the (ranges) which vary between labs.

I have access to my medical records but they don't give a reason why some results were abnormal. When I went for my repeat tests the nurse couldn't tell me anything only what was being repeated. I will just have to wait for the results.Thank you

If you have access to your medical records, does this include test results?

If so please post them, along with their reference ranges and the units of measurement for Vit D. That way we can hopefully respond usefully.

As we age things change. It's quite common for people to develop hypothyroidism in later years, my mother was over 60 when she developed it.

Low Vit D is very common for those of us living in the northern hemisphere, particularly in the winter months when we can't make it naturally from the sun. There was probably no need to repeat that test, it would be enough to just either prescribe or suggest you buy your own supplement. If you have this result please do post it, the dose of Vit D depends on the result and there are also important cofactors needed when supplementing with Vit D but doctors don't know about this because they are taught little to nothing about nutrition.

I should also have stated, the ranges too. The reason being that labs differ in the ranges and they enable members to comment upon the resuts.

PTH = parathyroid hormones

TFT = thyroid function tests

Usually only TSH and Ft4 if tested on NHS

Full thyroid testing should include Thyroid Antibodies for autoimmune thyroid disease
