I was hoping to get past results from my thyroid function tests so I had a rough idea what's "normal" for me but I have to put it in writing and then pay £10 which I know not a lot but still ridiculous IMO

Test results
Yeah that's what I thought too, I didn't even ask for copies just got her to read them out to me over the phone
It's the max they can ask for electronic records. In future they will just find you will just ask 2 weeks after the test.
My surgery emailed mine and didn't charge (I asked for this as I find it easier than bits of paper) but it would have been a tenner if I'd gone for the paperwork
The results I'm after are from ages ago my most recent blood test was the 10th of June and before then I can't even remember how long ago just that it's over a year ago
If they insist on charging you £10, then you are within your rights to ask for a copy of everything held electronically in your GP records for that price, not just a few test results. The link below is from the NHS's own website. You could print it out and show it to the receptionist at the surgery and see what happens.
You could also ask if you could get access to your GP records online. If you can, then that is free. Unfortunately, surgeries have been slow to introduce online access, so many people still can't see them. To use this service you have to take two forms of identity - something official with a picture and something official with an address- then you get given all the codes you need to register with the service. I'm not sure if every surgery is using the same online access service, but I assume they are. This is where I registered - still waiting to see my records though :
