Does anyone know why my TSH levels are consistently low (always .01) when T3 and T4 are within range? Thank-you

Free T4 0.9 (0.8 - 1.8) 10% of the way through the range

Free T3 3.7 (2.3 - 4.2) 74% of the way through the range

How do you feel?

And what dose are you on of T4 and T3?

As a very general rule, anyone taking T3 will usually end up with reduced T4 and much lower TSH.

What diagnosis do you have? Have you been hyperthyroid in the past?

I suffer from severe depression from PTSD so it is hard to answer how I feel.

Do you take thyroid replacement hormones?

If yes, what and what dose?

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and (if on thyroid hormones) last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test and last 1/3 or 1/4 of daily T3 or NDT 12 hours before test

I take NDT 2 grains. I have stopped taking it more than 24 hours before test and I have these results. I have struggle with severe depression from other issues so it is hard to tell how I feel.

On NDT

TSH is almost always suppressed as it contains T3

That’s what you would expect

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

If/when on NDT make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Important to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

Thank you!

My understanding is that the TSH level shoes how hard your thyroid is working to keep levels correct. A high tsh means your thyroid is underactive, trying to bring levels up. I just had my first really low result, 1.1, will consult with my dr.
