Just been reading up on the various Thyroid blood tests you can have etc
Not sure what to do as I see the Endocrinologist in a weeks time if to wait to see what they have to say or have a fingertip or vacutainer test, would appreciate advice please as this feels like a lot to take in at the moment.
Many thanks

If you are seeing the endo in a week's time then you possibly don't have time to do a private test. You would have to order it today, it may get despatched tomorrow and may reach you by Wednesday if you're lucky. You could possibly do the test on Thursday but you'd have to send it back by Royal Mail's Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm Next Day, which costs about £7.30 for it to hopefully arrive at the lab on Friday. You'd possibly get the results on Monday or Tuesday depending on which test you order and whether or not you ask for doctor comments. That's with a fingerprick test, depending on when you can get a blood draw then a vacutainer test may take longer.
GP should have tried different brands of levothyroxine first and at higher dose. Teva brand upsets many many people
Starting on too low a dose frequently causes issues
Standard starter dose of levothyroxine is 50mcg
Strictly gluten free diet likely to help as your dietitian already concluded your gluten intolerant
Essential to test folate, B12 and ferritin (ideally full iron panel test for anaemia)
Already diagnosed as vitamin D deficient
Getting all four vitamins optimal helps tolerate levothyroxine
If different brands of levothyroxine don’t suit, endocrinologist can try liquid levothyroxine. GP can’t usually prescribe as it’s expensive
Ideally GP would have done FULL thyroid and vitamin testing before endocrinologist consultation
Without recent tests, consultation likely to be brief and bloods done after consultation.....hopefully with follow up appointment
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water .....so not ideal to get tested after consultation
