Hello everyone.
I have heard that adrenals recover with optimal t3. Can anyone elaborate or offer further reading please.
My adrenals recovered with optimal T3. Prior to T3 my cortisol was below range on many occasions. Once I added T3 to T4 Levothyroxine within a few weeks my cortisol shot up. T3 drives everything in your body to improve it.
That’s amazing. I’m not too low moderately at noon and 4pm but definitely feeling the hypoglycaemia because of it. I have insomnia so wondering when that will go? Other peop say I need more ACE but I don’t want to start messing around with heavy glandulars
Did you do ct3m at all ? I’m struggling as I can’t sleep for more that 5 hours
What dose t3 were you on and did to help to wait to become optimal before your adrenals fixed.
Thank you for your very helpful response
I just added T3 to my regular T4 medication. I didn’t lower T4 med. all advised by my private only Endocrinologist. Maybe you can’t sleep as either your dosages are too high or too low. Have you got your latest bloods.
Ft3 5.96 (3.1-6.8)Ft4 8 (12-22)
But this was on 75mch I’m 106.25 now
It’s not the meds causing my insomnia as I’ve had it for years so it’s a hypo symptom. Possibly related to adrenals. I get hypoglycaemic as well. I still have brain fog that’s reduced a lot so I’m hoping the sleep will sort itself after a few more raises....
No insomnia for you ?
Thank you
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking When were vitamin levels last tested
Do you have Hashimoto’s?
All vitamins optimal after dosing iron vit d and folate.
I don’t have Hashimotos but I haven’t had the scan. I think my issues are hpa axis so dosing thyroid from there and really hoping my hypoglycaemia will resolve
Thank you
No, no insomnia for me thankfully. Your T3 looked high in the range, how long do you leave taking T3 before a blood test. If you do leave the advised 8hrs when you take your next T3 it’ll probably go over the range. What was your TSH. TSH doesn’t change as fast as FT3 or FT4 results. It can take a good few days/ even a week for a TSH to move in the range. Could this be your insomnia issue. Just a thought ?!
Hi McPammy
T3 is low for t3 only medication. We can go above range as normal. Optimal
top of the range or slightly over according to some and my Dr. I wait 15-20 hours before testing.
My tsh was 0.0002 but oddly was never elavevated even when my ft3 was bottom of the range. insomnia was there before treatment so I don’t think it’s to do with my treatment now. Hoping when my brain fog resolve ie I’m optimal it will go. I have used my bedroom for sleep only and that seems to be helping
Thank you for your suggestions much appreciated
I have read that the insomnia can be due to blood sugar issues as your body gets depleted of glucose during the night. I find that if I take a late evening snack of a couple of dates and my 2 brazil nuts it has helped with the insomnia. Tom Brimeyer writes about this issue on forefront health. I don't agree with everything he says but I did try this and have found it worked.
T3 works in unison with adrenals/cortisol. However there are a few components for that to work well. You will need your Iron/ferritin levels up to par . Electrolytes vitamin "C" B-Complex , B-12/folate. This nutrients help with support adrenals . Before starting any T3 meds it's advisable to support the adrenals first. Best Wishes.
Thank you very much. My vitamin are optimal now iron ferritin vit d b12 and folate thankfully.
I am actually looking for a good b vitamin I can’t have the methylated vitamins as I’m double comt and single mthfr do you have any suggestions for a good b complex ? I can only have folinic acid and no methycobalimin.
I have 2 adrenal cocktails and Lo salt every day
Hi my cortisol levels were very low on T4 only and on NDT swapped to T3 only used the CT3M method and within approx year or so cortisol back into NR. See FB groups: the thyroid patients manual, T3 Only thyroid support. Wish you good luck in your healing journey x
I use magnesium and liposomal melatonin at night which seems to have helped. The other thing you could try is to keep your blood sugar stable during the day. One of the best ways to do this is with a low carb and high fat diet.
One other little trick that has helped me is to take a spoonful of nut butter or a couple of tablespoons of a good oil eg hemp oil or extra virgin olive oil just before bedtime. It helps prevent the dip in blood sugar at about 4am which often wakes us up.
Good luck.
