A big thank you to all Dr Skinner’s former patients and friends for your interest and support of our project to preserve and publish research based on his work. We are collaborating with a team of endocrinologists at Cardiff University led by Prof Colin Dayan. Vaccine Research Trust are the guardians of Dr Skinner’s data and the research, which will be carried out on anonymised data, will be done separately at Cardiff University.

The research team at Cardiff is currently being funded by 'The Doris Godfrey Award'. This was awarded by the British Thyroid Foundation specifically for research into Dr Skinner's work.

After Dr Skinner passed away in 2013, the registered charity which he founded: The Vaccine Research Trust, funded two years of work by his team, to collate his data and preserve it for future research. As the responsible body, VRT continues to preserve Dr Skinner’s work in a safe, secure and confidential environment, complying with all legal requirements and regulations on data protection.

VRT's funds are very low and we rely upon the generosity of our friends and supporters to pay for this storage facility, which we have maintained for the past seven years and shall need to continue for some years to come.

If you would like to make a donation to help us preserve Dr Skinner’s work please go to:

justgiving.com/vaccine-rese...

If you are a UK taxpayer please also remember to declare this so that your donation will be increased by 25% through 'Gift Aid'.

You can also help VRT raise funds for free, when shopping online this Christmas and this can continue all year round. All you have to do is go to giveasyoulive.com/ sign up and then you can nominate the Vaccine Research Trust as your chosen charity to receive funds, raised from your online shopping with most major retailers.

Alternatively, you can put the 'Give As You Live' app on your phone.

You then just need to search for the retailer from whom you wish to purchase. You will be told what percentage of your purchase will be donated to VRT and send you regular updates on how much you have raised.

This is a very important project for thyroid patients. There is the chance to show that T3 does not have increased risks over T4. It's a worthy cause to support, as is Thyroid UK.

This information is glorious to read. I have been wondering for a long time how the staff have been getting on, so that all of their collective work can be publicised.

I know that the staff have been working very hard since the demise of Dr Skinner (all were heartbroken) to get all their Research together and publish their findings and that was their aim to honour Dr Skinner's lifetime's achievements.

I did wonder when all their collective findings would be published and I am really very happy that it is now going to happen.

Both Dr Skinner and Dr Barry Peatfield were the last of the 'thyroid warriors' who wished that all who had problems with their thyroid gland recovered their health, despite the 'guidelines laid down for GPs to follow' - as well as endocrinologists.

p.s. I cannot believe that it is now 7 years since Dr. Skinner's demise.

I hope their Research will be read by all of the BTA et al and hope it changes their attitudes of how to diagnose/treat those who have a dysfunctional thyroid gland..
