pulsatile tinnitus?

I've just had a light bulb moment!!

I've had tinnitus for about 6 or 7 months. It occurred to me that its not ringing in the ears as such. When I 1st got it I thought I was hearing a neighbours washing machine at night! It was rhythmical, I then realised they can't be doing washing everynight! Lol

Then I thought ok maybe its my own heartbeat. To cut a long story short I've just googled pulsing tinnitus. It sounds spot on!

My blood test recently came back with low Ferritin. The website said anemia can cause pulsatile tinnitus.

I'm in the process of upping my iron rich foods so I'm hoping this will sort me out.

Would be pleased to hear anyones thoughts.

Thank you

I have pulsating tinnitus it was really loud and pretty alarming when I first got it two years ago. It is constant and loud still 24 hours a day. I have been diagnosed with intracranial hypertension and I am still trying to figure out if it’s endocrine related. I have had many tests, due to have short synacthen test in three weeks as my cortisol is low but in range. I am glad you have found the reason for yours so quickly.

Thanks for your reply. I only notice it at night. Recently had labyrinthitis which I'm assuming is related to it, all being in the ear. Ive got a phone appointment with my GP on Tuesday but not sure it will get me anywhere. I seem to have to sort myself out. I suspect my cortisol is up the creek too. Hope you get sorted soon.

I have pulsitile tinnitus, the most common cause is a problem with blood vessels in the head and neck.

yes I read that, thank you. Whether or not I can get my doctor to do tests is another question

I've had a hearing test which was a waste of time, not much GP's can do so it needs a referral to ENT but I believe the waiting lists are ridiculously long.

I had a hearing test in the summer and it was within normal parameters.

I have pulsatile tinnitus and B12 injections sorted 80% of it out. I also take v low doseage of T3/4 and that's eliminated a bit more. What's left I can live with!
