Just a quick question my endocrinologist has arranged a blood cortisol test at 8:30am on Tuesday. Are the blood and saliva tests the same or is one more accurate than the other? My thyroid results have been off since July this year, I have hypothyroidism and Hashimotos last TSH was 12!

They're not the same. This blog explains the difference between the tests:

Was just about to link to that earlier post but you beat me to it!
Will be great if the NHS start to promote the salivary sample. Perhaps also we are not too far away from sweat analysis being done by the Apple Watch as they’ve already filed some patents for this. I wonder what can be determined through sweat, I know they are looking at sugar but surely there’s plenty of other markets in our sweat!
Thanks for the links, I did read the trial post prior to your reply. Interesting and it’s here where I live.
You might like to see this from my GP this morning asking if my Vit D could be checked and if I could have T3 checked 😂 what he’s missed is that I’ve been on levothyroxine for over 30 years 🤷♀️
“We tested your Vitamin D in October it was normal . There would be no reason to test it again so soon ,
The NHS test ( in Sheffield At least ) tests T4 and TSH ,
The expert advice is there is no reason to test T3 although I am aware there is a lot on non expert opinion on this on the internet
You last TSH was raised so you may need to start thyroid replacement . .
Please make sure that you are not taking any Biotin or hrt for at least 6 weeks prior to the test. Biotin can sometimes be found in multivitamins so check carefully as it can make blood tests register as too high.
