Vit D is recommend to be 100-150nmol according to the Vit D Council /Vit D Society. To reach that level from current level a dose of 4000iu D3 is suggested. Retest in 3 months. Once recommended level is reached then a maintenance dose will be needed, trial and error needed to find that dose, could be 2000iu or more or less. Important cofactors magnesium and Vit K2-mk7 Should be taken when taking D3. Retest twice a year when supplementing with D3 to keep level within recommended range.
Ferritin is low and is recommended to be half way through range. Eating liver regularly can help raise Ferritin, no more than 200g per week due to high Vit A content. Don't take iron tablets unless you have an iron panel to test for iron deficiency and full blood count to check for anaemia.
Folate is recommended to be at least half way through range.
Active B12 below 70 suggests testing for B12 deficiency.
A normal healthy person would have a TSH of no more than 2 with FT4 around mid-range-ish.
Thank you, Susie.
I was pondering the FT4 & 3 results. 46 & 42% through the ranges which isn't far off my own results (except I had antibodies and a TSH of 9). But if T4 is usually half way in healthy folk then these results aren't too far off.
Have encouraged supplementing to get the vit levels up.
The trouble is none of us are tested for thyroid when well to give a baseline, so while 46% or mid-range-ish is fine for some, for others their normal FT4 level when well could be higher.
However, those results will be seen as euthyroid, only an over range TSH or bottom of range FT4 would suggest a problem.
Ferritin in particular is important so your friend should seriously look into that, and perhaps a good B Complex such as Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B. Plus, of course D3 and it's cofactors.
Don't start all supplements at once, start with one, if all OK after 2 weeks add a second one, then if all OK after another 2 weeks add the next one, etc. This is so that if there is any adverse effect he/she will know what caused it.
yes Ferritin borderline low. Optimal is around 100.
Never take iron without medical supervision, the following text might be of interest:

Yes, I read that a lot on here but my Dr told me to take iron supplements that I could buy myself. No advice on how much or for how long. 🤷🏻♀️
