Hi. Thanks for looking at the question. I have an enlarged/swollen thyroid. The left side is painful and is slightly larger and more swollen than the right. The endocrinologist is not looking at an ultra sound scan. What are the chances I have a module? Am I looking to deeply into this? Thanks 😊

THYROID PAIN
Do you mean a nodule? As I have said before I have a multinodular goiter which means I have numerous small nodules.
This is what my last ultrasound says:
Benign enlargement of the thyroid noted bilaterally with months hypoechoic nodules. There is a background of hypoechoic parechhyma with increased vascularity in the neck.
When I was first diagnosed my neck felt sore and painful but once I started treatment it didn't feel as swollen or painful because my thyroid was being rested from being overstimulated. I sometimes do have periods where it does feel a bit sore so I usually put a cold compress on it or take some painkillers. This rarely happens at the moment because I am in remission.
When I was hyper my right thyroid side was larger but I didn't get a scan and it did go down.
