Help with blood test results please

I had an appointment with an nhs Endo in June. She arranged b/t and I’m just posting the results now as I haven’t felt up to dealing with it. Please could I get feedback on them. I’m disappointed as, despite asking (and presuming she would include a full thyroid profile), this hasn’t been done.

At my appointment she said I would be eligible for a trial of T3 if needed as I’m lucky in my area (Basingstoke) they can do this.

Before that she has referred me for a test to check my adrenals. I haven’t had the referral letter yet & can’t remember exactly what the test involves but I think she said taking bloods before and after adrenaline is injected.

Thanks as always 😊

Suggest you get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done privately ASAP

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

TSH likely too high

No Ft4

No Ft3

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested in past

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Vitamin is too low at 69

No folate

No B12

No ferritin

ALWAYS test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Only do test early Monday or Tuesday morning

Important to have been on unchanging dose and brand minimum 6-8 weeks before test

Thanks for your reply SlowDragon..

The b/t was done at 7.50 am , last dose of Levo 5 am previous day. Nothing but water beforehand.

I’ve been on 87.5 mcgs for about 4 years.

For the last couple of months or so I get the same brand , Mercury, after reading about the importance on here. Before that I would get a selection of brands each month.

I’ve done 2 private b/t 2/2/21 & 26/4/21.

It’s from these I’ve learnt from feedback here that I likely have Hashimotos.

Unbelievable that since 2005 Ive just been told underactive thyroid, all bloods ‘in range’ but I’ve constantly felt symptomatic.

I now realise the reasons for this when all they test is TSH.

I’m not going to follow on with the nhs Endo who didn’t even do full thyroid panel. I am going to book with the private endo.

The Endo also told me my difficulty swallowing ‘can often be imagination’ !

I’ve been mostly on gluten free since knowing about Hashimotos but had a couple of slips . I’ve had to come every 3rd week to care for my dad and my food

slipped. I can really see the difference, it’s more difficult to function when I’m not gluten free.

Back on track for a week now.

I take 2 x Doctor’s Best 1000 iu D3 daily , have done since April. Even with this D3 still low.

I could add another to make 3000.

Also take :-

Vitabay K2 100 ug 1 per day

Thorne Basic B Complex - 1 per day

1x drop Biocare Selinium

Biocare Vitamin C

Biocare Magnesium powder at night.

I will stop the B Complex today and do private test in a week.

I haven’t done the Dio2 gene test yet but am going to arrange this .

Thanks for your feedback 😊

B12 and ferritin both too low

Couldn’t see any vitamin D results

Essential to test vitamin D twice year when supplementing.

B12, folate and ferritin annually

All four vitamins need to be OPTIMAL

Personally with Hashimoto’s and gluten intolerance, I need 4000iu-5000iu daily vitamin D to maintain optimal vitamin D level……but we are all different

Retest regularly

Vitamin D you swallow should be minimum 4 hours away from levothyroxine

Personally I prefer Better You mouth spray with vitamin K2 (one spray= 1000iu)

Thanks SlowDragon.I always take supplements at lunchtime and Levo the crack of dawn.

My Vit D was very low in February 20 , doctor put me on a once a week very high dose for few weeks then said remain on 2000. I’m going to increase it tho as I’m only just in range even on supplements. I have bought a spray with K2 but thought I’d finish these off first. I’ll switch to spray tomorrow.

Trial and error what dose each person needs

Might need more in winter than summer

You have Hashimoto’s and are gluten intolerant

Likely to need addition of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Thriva also offer just vitamin testing

How much vitamin D are you currently taking.

Obviously not high enough dose

Aiming for vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol minimum maybe better

Gluten free diet is low in magnesium

Are you also taking magnesium supplements

Did you get Dio2 gene test done
