Has anyone who uses betaine hcl stopped suddenly and got stomach pains. I had steak and didn’t use it and now I’m a bit of pain.

You're in pain because you didn't take the Betaine. Steak is high protein and requires a good level of stomach acid to digest it. If you don't have sufficient you'll get reflux and pain.

Thanks for the message. I generally don’t get pains after eating food be it meat or whatever. I started taking betaine to help with silent reflux. Since taking it, I have felt better still sore throat and I stopped to test tonight and now I got sore stomach and pains. Just new.

Does your betaine HCL also contain pepsin? Pepsin is required to help the body digest protein.

I think you need to be careful on the theory of low stomach acid .I bought it and tried betaine but the real problem was too much acid which led to Barratts oesophagus, reflux ,stomach ulcers and I was found to have non-hodgkins lymphoma.

Thanks for the message. Yeah I tested it slowly with my specialist. Never once got any symptoms that would suggest I am high stomach acid. My question is more does your gut become reliant to it and hence the reaction to my gut last night.
