Pruritis on one upper arm ?

I have suffered on and off with pruritis it tends to come and go but this time it stayed almost a month. I have been told it could be a symptom of hypothyroidism /aneamia/ menopause of which I have all 3 ( secondary hypo still not diagnosed)

Has anyone had this but like I say just in one arm it's driving me nuts 24/7...cant take gapentin or the other oral drug and antihistamine doesn't help either

I replied to you on the Cholesterol Support Forum three days ago ! Yes your symptom could be linked to low thyroid - also low B12 and other underlying issues like raised liver enzymes ( mentioned in another post )

sorry I don't always get notifications...i supplement vit B in a b complex but any issues with my liver hasn't flagged up on a full blood count would enzymes show on there. it's more that it's just one arm which is strange

Liver enzyme testing is not included in CBC. Often raised when Hypo

Did you know your B12 Level before supplementing ?

I had similar a few years ago, awful itching on my lower arm that kept me awake three nights running. I got on to a forum where suggestions included vertebrae out, using witch hazel etc. The only thing I could do at 3am was another suggestion from an acupuncturist - sleep with my arm out straight. It sounds crazy but it worked!

really ?? funny enough I sleep with my left arm straight as I sleep on my stomach and it's no worse in bed ...i do find it worse when I'm using it during the day which is why I think it's nerve pain...i read with it being one arm it's damaged nerve endings from too much sun ( I work outside a lot so they do see the sun a lot over the years ) and that can go hand in hand with a spine/ disc problem like you mentioned. I don't know whether to see a physio or someone to check my spine alignment because doctors only prescribe gabapentin which I can't tolerate sadly...did yours go away because mines been a month nearly it's driving me crazy !

Yes mine went away very quickly. I got back in to bed, stuck my arm out straight (luckily it wasn't winter!) and went to sleep. I do hope you get sorted very soon
